With people living longer than ever before, low interest rates and the ever rising cost of living, people in retirement are finding it increasingly difficult to enjoy the standard of living they have become accustom to. Up until recently house prices were rising year on year at relentless levels, and this now means that many people’s biggest asset by far is their home. Early equity release products were limited and expensive, so traditionally you would have to sell your home or down size to unlock this wealth, but with recent advances in the equity release market there is another option available to you. An equity release scheme lets you raise money from your property either as a lump sum or regular income whilst giving you the right to remain living in the property until you die, move out or go into care. There are two types of equity release scheme available in the market with various options available on each. A Lifetime Mortgage involves taking out a loan secured on your home and a Home Reversion Plan involves selling all or part of your home. Both schemes pay you a lump sum or an income and give you the right to remain in the property.
We are unable to provide advice in the area of Equity Release but can introduce you to an authorised and qualified adviser.
We normally charge a fee for mortgage advice, however this will be dependent on your circumstances. Our fee is 1% of the loan amount, minimum £595.
YOUR HOME MAY BE REPOSSESSED IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP REPAYMENTS ON YOUR MORTGAGE.
The Financial Services Authority do not regulate some of the products/services listed.
An equity release plan will reduce the value of your estate, will not be suitable for everyone and may affect your entitlement to state benefits.
